World Food Day 2025 – Celebrating Life, Soil, and Sustainability

World Food Day 2025 marked a historic milestone: the 80th anniversary of both the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations. Under the global theme “Hand in hand for better food and a better future!”, this year’s event called for international solidarity in building a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable food system for all.

Bringing together governments, international organizations, scientists, and engaged citizens, the celebration highlighted global efforts to address food insecurity, promote environmental stewardship, and drive innovation in agriculture, nutrition, and ecosystem health.

As part of the Science and Innovation Forum, SPIN-FERT was proud to contribute to World Food Day 2025 — an inspiring celebration of life, soil, and sustainability.

We were honoured by the presence of the Italian Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, who visited our immersive installation: “Breath of Soil – Memory Nexus” — a sensory journey into the living memory of soil.

Over the course of two vibrant hours, countless visitors stopped by to explore how every soil tells a story. Through scent, texture, and memory, SPIN-FERT’s installation invited guests to reflect on the emotional and ecological significance of soil, and its essential role in sustaining life on Earth.

Together with the #CREA team, we welcomed citizens, students, scientists, and journalists from around the world to discover the often-overlooked sensory power of soil. Through sensory soil analysis, SPIN-FERT continues to explore the deep connections between soil, emotion, and memory — advancing an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to sustainability and ecosystem health.
