She-nziate – CNR-ISB Open day

“She-nziate” is an Open Day dedicated to female and male students from lower secondary schools in the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This event has been organized to reflect on the value of scientific culture and the importance of gender equality offering in the same time an opportunity to provide a multidisciplinary exploration of the world of science, technology, innovation, and Art & Science, through interactive experiments, hands-on demonstrations, and inspiring meetings.

The program is composed of several initiatives: Carmelo Cannarella (CNR-ISB) will lead an activity, titled “Plants in music: How transforming Nature into sounds,” showing how plants — and even soil — can produce sounds that can be transformed into music. The session, during which also the previous experiences of dissemination initiatives within the SPIN-FERT project, will be described, will also explore the possibility that these sounds might reveal information about the health and condition of plants.
