SPIN-FERT at a meeting on forest protection and management

On 5 March 2025, at the Forest Training Centre in Nagórzyce, which is belonging to the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Łódź, a meeting was held on the major pests affecting forests trees and fruit crops that are grown in the vicinity. Dr hab. Małgorzata Tartanus from the National Institute of Horticultural Research in Skierniewice (Poland) was invited to present aspects related to soil-borne pests that can affect also forest trees (e.g. May beetle), and the ongoing research for their control. This allowed her to familiarise the participants with the aims and activities of SPIN-FERT, particularly on the research about soil health improvement and the production of peat-free growing media, which can also support pest and disease control of forest trees and ornamental plants. The presentation prompted a lively discussion and numerous questions. We are joining forces for the good of the environment!
