SUMMARY:Report press conference for SPIN-FERT media
DESCRIPTION:Skierniewice\, Poland \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn 24 October 2024\, the National Institute of Horticultural Research (INHORT) held a press conference devoted to the SPIN-FERT project\, the main objective of which is to promote activities aimed at soil improvement and production of peat-free growing media. The event brought together media representatives\, including journalists from specialized technical magazines and regional radio and TV broadcasting channels. \n\n\n\nThe conference included presentations by representatives of all Polish partners. Prof. Dr. hab Eligio Malusà (INHORT)\, as project coordinator\, introduced the project goals and issues related to soils health and the development of peat-free substrates. Prof. Dr. hab. Joanna Hoffmann (ASSF / Art & Science Node / University of Arts in Poznań) showed how art can support the transfer of scientific knowledge toward common citizens. Dr. Krzysztof Ambroziak (Intermag) discussed the aspects of the production process of microbial products. Prof. Dr. hab.  Magdalena Frąc (Institute of Agrophysics-PAS) explained the mechanisms of interaction between microorganisms and plants. \n\n\n\nThe conference was concluded with a discussion and a practical workshop for the attendees\, where participants had the opportunity to experience the link between the smell of the soil with the personal emotions it brings from the memory.  \n\n\n\nMedia reports were broadcasted on the news of the regional channel of the Polish Television (TVP3) and radio and are expected also to be published in major magazines. \n\n\n\n https://lodz.tvp.pl/83126263/lodzkie-wiadomosci-dnia-24102024-1830 \n\n\n\n(See from minute 15.20) \n\n\n\nConference program (PL) \n\n\n\nPress release: https://spinfert.eu/press-releases-2/

SUMMARY:Conference "Innovations in the organic horticultural production" - SPIN-FERT project Horizon Europe
DESCRIPTION:Institute of Horticulture\, Skierniewice\, Poland \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPIN-FERT is introduced to Polish horticultural professionals  \n\n\n\nOn 24 October 2024\, the SPIN-FERT project was introduced to about 400 professional operators (farmers\, agricultural advisors and researchers) during the conference “Innovations in the organic horticultural production” that was held at the National Institute of Horticultural Research. Dr hab. Małgorzata Tartanus highlighted the aim of the project and the various innovations planned to be developed\, among which can be mentioned the innovative protocols for the production of peat-free substrates formulated with microbial strains and/or humic extracts\, or various tools also exploiting AI\, including an automated robot for the analysis of soil biodiversity\, an e-nose to assess soil microbial activity and a soil quality index combining physical\, chemical and biological parameters. The SPIN-FERT effort in economic\, social and environmental assessments of peat-free substrates and soil management practices was mentioned as a way to promote wide adoption by professionals (farmers and manufacturers) and common citizens (gardeners). Finally\, the innovative approach to communication and dissemination\, exploiting new technologies and visual artworks was also shown through the Memory Nexus workshop. The on-site attendees (about 80 persons) had also the possibility of experiencing the “Senses of Soil”\, an exhibition showing how the five human senses can be energized by the different properties of the soil. \n\n\n\nThe conference\, beside being launched on INHORT website\, was also previously advertised by the Polish National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) social media. \n\n\n\nSee  https://www.kpk.gov.pl/wydarzenia/konferencja-innowacje-w-ekologicznej-uprawie-roslin-projekt-spin-fert-horyzont-europa \n\n\n\nReport on the conference and mentioning of SPIN-FERT can also be found on \n\n\n\nhttps://www.inhort.pl/konferencja-innowacje-w-ekologicznej-uprawie-roslin/
