Open Day at the University of Hohenheim
July 4 All day
Stuttgart, Germany
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the University of Hohenheim opened its doors in beautiful summer weather, inviting visitors of all ages to explore its stunning campus and the diverse world of science.
SPIN-FERT once again joined forces with Moor-Power to explore peat, peat alternatives and peatland protection with visitors of all ages.
While our colleagues from Moor-Power shared insights into peatlands and why protecting them matters, Sabine Zikeli and Carolin Weiler from SPIN-FERT introduced peat alternatives and peat-free growing media, including products from our project partner Caviro/Enomondo.
During our hands-on herb-planting activity, visitors learned about the special characteristics of peat-free growing media and picked up practical tips for using them successfully at home.
The takeaway: Choosing peat-free is one step towards protecting peatlands – and knowing how to use these growing media makes the difference!
